PHP Scripts Available
I am constantly looking for new ways to help clients update their websites and recently came across 2 scripts that have great potential.
- Czar News - check it out on my website. This free script allows you to add headlines, create categories that can be added to different areas of a website and upload and insert pictures. It's a nice script that is fairly easy to use and install.
- PHPgraphy Photo Gallery - This script creates image galleries and resizes the photos based on the settings. It can easily be integrated into your website.

SEO Tips
I learned a few SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tips recently. These are not rocket science by any means and they make sense, but not knowing means not doing, so I get excited when I learn them.
Tip #1
Did you know that a domain name registered over many years is considered more valid than one that renews annually? The search engines interpret the longer domain period as more valid and this is an easy way to improve your placement in the search engines.
Tip #2
Your domain name should include what you do. For example, peggyshieldswebdesign.com or projectsbypeggywebdesign.com would place higher in search engines for web design than projectsbypeggy.com does.
If you already have a domain name, you can still take advantage of this tip by purchasing a second domain and pointing it to the same website. In fact, you can park multiple domains (up to five for basic hosting accounts), if you wish.
Check Your Domain WHOIS Listing
As a rule of thumb, I list the client as the site owner including their name and address, but I use my email and phone number (to keep your information private and avoid unwanted solicitations).
If your Domain Name is registered through Projects by Peggy, you might want to check the listing and let me know if you'd like to change it. You can do so at my favorite WHOIS resource, Speedy Whois. Just type your domain, i.e., projectsbypeggy.com (without the www).
AND COMING SOON!
For a small fee, you will be able to make your domain name private so that people cannot look up your personal information through the WHOIS database. I will let you know when this is available.
Client Profile: Chestnut Oak Farm
Chestnut Oak Farm, home of the Gypsy Vanner Stallion Rosewater Cassidy "Sid" (right), recently completed its website. This site was a collaborative effort with the site owner, Wendy Rager.
Working together we created a beautiful site that showcases Chestnut Oak Farm's Gypsy, Drum and Shire horses. The visual design was Wendy's ... doesn't she make me look good? Be sure to check out Chestnut Oak Farm!
If you would like to utilize any of the SEO tips or scripts featured in this issue or make changes to your Domain WHOIS info, please let me know. Discounts may apply.
