Mifflinburg, PA—Peggy Shields, owner/designer of Projects by Peggy presented “Starting A Freelance Business,” a Climbing with the Experts Presentation for Westwood College Online Career Development Services on June 5, 2007. Climbing with the Experts events allow Westwood College Online (WOL) students to participate in a presentation with an interactive question and answer session through a virtual environment. WOL students also had access to a toll-free number to participate in the discussion. Ms. Shields’ presentation included tips and suggestions for freelancing with a focus on volunteering to gain experience, networking in the community and online, and developing a business plan. Ms. Shields’ began learning HTML in 1998 as a hobby. In 2003, she established Projects by Peggy when she obtained her first paying client. She enrolled in WOL in 2004 to earn a degree in Web Design and Multimedia. Peggy completed her bachelor's degree in December 2006 from WOL. In addition to her current position as owner/designer of Projects by Peggy, she also does freelance work locally.
